How to prioritise and measure a content improvement

2 min readWorkflowsLast verified 2026-09-16

Use this workflow to turn a weak-page report into a justified content update. It combines performance evidence, content analysis, a reviewed draft and a dated record of the real change.

1. Select a worthwhile page

Start in Real-Time Content Auditing or Weak and Dead URL Discovery. Check the reporting period and the page's clicks, impressions, CTR and position. A low-click label is a starting point for investigation, not a deletion recommendation.

Prioritise pages with a clear business purpose, relevant search exposure and a plausible improvement. A gallery, contact or booking page can be valuable without behaving like an informational article.

2. Understand the search task

Filter the page in Search Console Data, inspect its queries and use URL Query Intent as a supporting classification. Read the queries yourself. An intent label is not proof of what every visitor wants.

For a menu page, users may need dishes, prices, dietary information or the route to a booking. Do not add unrelated text simply to increase a content score.

3. Analyse the existing content

Use Content NLP for topical guidance or AI Content Auditor for a more detailed review. Choose a relevant target query, intent, audience and market where the tool requests them.

Separate findings into confirmed issues, plausible suggestions and incorrect assumptions. Review live-page claims such as missing structured data or ordering functionality before accepting them.

4. Prepare and review the change

Use Title Tag Rewriting for title candidates or Content Writer for drafting and analysis. Supply actual content and factual constraints. Check every claim, location, dish, price and call to action against the business's current offering.

In the walkthrough a generated title included “Order Online”. That wording needs a verified ordering service. A higher score would not justify adding an inaccurate promise.

SEO Stack's draft or suggestion is not evidence that the public website has changed. Confirm the supported save, export and deployment process for your workflow before applying content.

5. Measure after the real deployment

Create a task for review and implementation. After deployment, add an annotation with the actual date, affected URL and change description. If using Experiments, first resolve the staging setup validation issue documented in that article.

Allow a suitable observation period and compare equivalent dates in Search Console. Review clicks, impressions, CTR and position for the same page and query set. Consider seasonality and other changes. Completing a task or improving an internal content score does not demonstrate a search-performance gain.

Worked example

A gallery page showed eight clicks from 2,993 impressions in the content audit, a CTR of about 0.27%. Before turning it into a long article, inspect the searches and the page's visual purpose. The right action might be a clearer title, more useful image context, better internal navigation or no substantial content rewrite at all.

Connect a property. Watch the data start stacking.

Warehousing begins the moment you connect your Search Console property, there is no Google Cloud project to set up, no BigQuery and no schema to design. You simply connect your property and SEO Stack starts storing every row of your data from that day onwards.
